Facebook Unveils 'Subscribe Button,' Giving Users An Entirely New Way To Connect..

Just a day after publicly launching new smart lists and better suggestions, categorising your friends based on demographic information, Facebook will introduce over the next few days features that could, put simply, eliminate your desire to use any other social network.
Starting today, Facebook will begin rolling out a new “Subscribe” feature that will provide granular control over what your friends share with you, but also provide you with a way to share updates with a wider audience without having to befriend them.
To enable Subscriptions, click here.
Previously, if one of your friends played a number of games, indirectly posting updates of their gaming activity, you would have no choice to either block a specific game from your News Feed or physically remove that persons updates altogether. Now, Facebook’s Subscribe button automatically subscribes you to your friends updates, but will provide you with an easy way to control which updates you receive.
The Subscribe button sits in the top-right corner of each of your friend’s profiles, providing the option to dial down the number of updates you receive. Users can choose to receive all updates, most updates or only important updates – an easy control for the different types of friends you have on Facebook.
Important updates are categorised into network events that really matter – if a friend or family member gets a new job, attends a new university or updates their profile with the joyous news of a new addition to their family.
As shown in the screenshot above, you can choose to receive updates on Life Events, Status Updates, Photos and Videos or Games – you now have complete control over what you see and when you see it.
If you don’t want to visit a friend’s profile to toggle their updates, simply hit the drop down in the News Feed and you can toggle the updates directly from there.

Subscribing To Updates

Facebook limits friends to a total of 5000, if you hit that limit, no more friend additions for you. With the new Subscribe feature, users are able to publicly broadcast their updates without having to add friends.
The feature is primarily targeted at public figures, providing journalists, politicians or other local figures with the ability to send out Twitter-like updates that can be read by any person that wishes to subscribe to them.
Facebook has provided ways to control what you share and how you share it, even giving users control over the notifications they receive as a result. If a user finds an interesting person they wish to follow, subscribing to their updates will deliver updates in their News Feed, the same as if they were friends, but will be limited to updates that are shared publicly by that person.
A new Subscriptions menu item has been added to the left menu that when click will providing information on who you are following but also allowing you to toggle the option on your own updates. For example, a user may want to solicit public opinion in a certain post, they can change the option to allow people other than “Friends of Friends” to open comments publicly and receive feedback on their public posts.
Facebook has said that this feature will not bombard your notifications, instead working intelligently to provide relevant notifications.
Facebook has said that at the moment, public updates will not be syndicated to an RSS feed, so for the time being you will not be able to output your public posts to another social network.

Forget 3D, here comes the QD TV, A New Era in Light and Displays

The history of television is very old. There was a time when people use to witness TV black and white small TV sets. Then came the era of colour TV. This era was enjoyed by the people a lot. After this came the era of TV with woofer sound. Liquid-Crystal display television LCD TV are the television sets that use LCD display technology to produce images. They are thinner, lighter and are available in much larger sizes.LCD’s new and modified version was LED. A Plasma display panel (PDP) is a type of flat panel display common to large TV displays in 30 inches or larger.
Since 3DTVs were first mass marketed back in 2010, we’ve been waiting for the next major break-through in television. According to scientists at Manchester University, this could be paper-thin OLED TV displays that incorporate quantum dot technology.

Recently Scientists at Nanoco in Manchester, England, have created light emitting particles 100,000 times smaller than the width of a human strand of hair.
Known as quantum dot technology, the light particles can be produced to emit any colour and printed onto flexible plastic to create ultra-thin televisions. The Nanosys technology is called Quantum Dot Enhancement Film (QDEF). It increases the color gamut (or number of colors) in a display by as much as three times without any increase in cost, size or power consumption.
Nanoco said quantum dot technology offers better picture quality and lasts longer than traditional liquid crystal display (LCD) screens.
This is the result of the Open Innovation experiment. It is an experience video showing the future of screen technology with stretchable screens, transparent screens and QD displays, to name a few.

The company are working on small personal devices to begin with, but hope to develop bigger projects.
“Something else we are looking at is reels of wallpaper or curtains made out of a material that has quantum dots printed on it,” a spokesman for Nanoco told the Daily Mail.
Nanoco are reported to be working with major Asian electronic companies to produce the first quantum dot technology TV by the end of next year.
The flexible screens could be in the shops within the next three years.
Nanoco defines itself as “a world leader in the development and manufacture of cadmium-free quantum dots” at a time when being “cadmium-free” presents special advantage. Cadmium is generally used in LEDs in lighting and displays. The European Union has made it exempt, though, from its Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) directive due to the fact that there isn’t yet a practical substitute, according to eWEEK Europe. That exemption is to end in July 2014.
“Our research and development department is also constantly engaged in the creation of new quantum dots with additional properties sought by the market, such as our RoHS-compliant heavy metal-free quantum dots,” says the company

Leak: Nokia C8, the Symbian Belle running successor to the Nokia C7?

If you have been following the Nokia C7 phone or own one or even looking forward to owning one, then you should check this out. Nokia might soon unveil a successor to the Nokia C7 mobile phone – the Nokia C8.
for all, who are waiting for a really good design of a Nokia phone since E71, this design concept of a Nokia C8 looks very promising to me :-)

After new CEO’s letter to the Nokia’s employees, Nokia and Microsoft strategically teamed up to produce one of the most innovative phones of this year.Nokia is working on the successor/ replacement for their N8 cameraphone. The new Nokia imaging flagship will have a bigger camera sensor (not sure about resolution), optical zoom, 3.5” WVGA Clear Black display with Gorilla Glass, 1GHz CPU, 512MB of RAM. And it will still run on Symbian.
The phone above is the Nokia C8 Concept Phone. It is definitely the best looking concept phone we have seen in quite sometime if not the best looking ever.

Main Specs:
  •  -3.8" WVGA Clear Black display with Gorilla Glass
  • - 2nd OLED 330x50 for the buttons
  • - 1.3 MP front cam
  • - 12MP Carl Zeiss cam with LED flash
  • - HDMI out
  • - 3,5mm jack
  • - microUSB
  • - Active Noise Cancellation Microphone
  • - dedicated Cam button and Battery Indicator
While  the manual also revealed that it’s a Symbian Belle device with NFC, HDMI, and DLNA capabilities.

The design borrows elements from both the CSeries phones as well as the luxury 8xxx series of phones from Nokia and combines them into one device. One would say the formula is Nokia C7+8800+8600 Luna.
Soon we are gonna see a new Symbian phone Nokia C8 with a high quality 12MP camera similar to the recently released
The whole shape is take from the Nokia C7, the silver elements from the 8800 and the glass elements from the 8600 Luna. We are not aware who the creator of this wonderful concept is as we haven’t seen an official publication anywhere.

The Dark Sides of Steve Jobs Reveled

For the person who is beyond all the praise, an ideal for millions, there exists shady dark sides. We respect him for being the biggest innovator of the century, revolutionizing the User Experience in consumer electronics, forever. But its true, no one is perfect. But while Jobs was lauded as a genius who touched lives and reshaped modern culture with creations such as the iPhone and iPad, he was also remembered for being the toughest of managers, with a dark side to his personality.

I'm an Apple addict, too. But I'd be remiss if I failed to note that the bright white facade of Jobs's dream had a dark side as well, that in between his faultless designs and his legions of dedicated fans was the often harsh reality of globalized manufacturing, one that can be tainted in blood.

Indeed there were things Jobs did while at Apple that were deeply disturbing. Rude, dismissive, hostile, spiteful: Apple employees—the ones not bound by confidentiality agreements—have had a different story to tell over the years about Jobs and the bullying, manipulation and fear that followed him around Apple

Steve Jobs‘ official biography talks about several dark sides of Steve Jobs, which none of us probably heard about before. He was capable of incredible cruelty, total self-delusion, ruthless competitiveness, arrogance, and a beehive of stealing ideas.  It’s probably the most raw profile the world has ever seen on Jobs – for better, or for worse.  And it also offers a rather naked commentary about success.

1. Copy Innovation
Steve said that he was ready to go “thermonuclear” war on Android, an operating system he saw as a “stolen product.” Truth be discussed, what did Android really copy from iOS? The interface and the OS architecture are quiet different from each other. Its like comparing Mac OS to Linux, both have similar underlying Unix, everything else is different: Kernel, framework, libraries, JVM vs. Native framework, UI and Touch interfaces. Even if some of it is similar, Android was developed independently by a startup named Android under supervision of Andy Rubin. It was later acquired by Google and modified for good.
For a moment, lets assume Android was a copy. Was Macintosh not a copy of Xerox’s OS ? Steve shamelessly copied each aspect of Xerox’s User Interface and called it Mac OS. Steve J. agrees he copied, why in the world is he so furious about Android copying iOS?
2. Steal the Credit, and never be humble
Steve Jobs was famous for stealing the credit of his subordinates. Apple’s famous designer, Jonathan Ive, was frustrated because Steve was constantly taking credit for his ideas. It was a recurring problem, with incredibly talented executives complaining that Jobs took all the credit for Apple’s game-changing innovations. “I pay maniacal attention to where an idea comes from, and I even keep notebooks filled with my ideas,” Ive said. “So it hurts when he takes credit for one of my designs.”
Perhaps the worst story surrounds Daniel Kottke, who was there with Jobs at Reed College, travelled with him in India, and was one of the first Apple employees in the garage. But when Apple went public, Jobs refused to give him any shares because of his technical status within the company – despite the protests of other high-ranking employees.
Kottke was unfortunately subdued and didn’t push – until it became too much. “And at one point, [Kottke] tries to go to Steve and just starts crying,” Isaacson told 60 Minutes. “But Steve can be very cold about these things. Finally, one of the engineers at Apple said, you know, ‘We have to take care of your buddy Daniel. I’ll give him some stock, if you match it or whatever.’ And Jobs says, ‘Yeah, I’ll match it. I’ll give zero, you give zero.’”
3. Bad Son, Poor Father
This may be on the personal side, but its not to be ignored. Steve Jobs never met his Biological father.
In 1978, Steve Jobs had a daughter (his first) with girlfriend Chrisann Brennan, a painter. Jobs adamantly refused paternity, though a judge ultimately forced Jobs to pay support.
When Lisa was young, Steve, her father, almost never came to see her. ‘I didn’t want to be a father, so I wasn’t,’ Jobs said, with only a touch of remorse in his voice.”

As we rightly mourn the dream of Steve Jobs—a man who transformed multiple sectors of the economy—we should remember to look through the elegant design, all smooth edges and pure white, and into the guts that helped give it life.

Nokia Lumia 800 Vs Samsung Galaxy S II Vs iPhone 4s Vs Droid Razr

While we know good and well it’s more about the full package than it is about any single specification on the device, it’s always interesting to compare one hero device to another.
As we all know Nokia is betting its future on Microsoft’s mobile OS
Today at Nokia World 2011, Nokia unveiled two new Windows Phone flag ship devices the Lumia 800 and 710. Lumia 800 is the high end Windows Phone mango device which will compete with other non- windows Phone devices

We have compiled the specs comparison of Lumia 800 with iPhone 4S, Galaxy S II and Droid Razr in chart below:find it in the gallery just after the break.
Overall, Nokia’s Lumia 800 could be an interesting proposal for those who want a smartphone that’s not an iPhone or Android, with solid guts and shiny looks.
AS compared to its competitors, the Lumia 800 is the most extraordinary to offer: it’s the thinnest  fastest of phone ,even has it the best camera & extra features

Now we wait to see how the public at large responds.

iPhone 4S vs. iPhone 4 vs. Samsung Galaxy S II [Head to Head]

Today, Apple officially announced the iPhone 4S, which means we can finally be done with the rumors and get down to the facts. Though we didn't get the iPhone 5 and the iPhone 4S might not look all that different from the iPhone 4, there are a number of changes under the hood. To help you out, we've put together this handy comparison chart of the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S, so you can see the differences for yourself.

Clearly, it looks identical to last year’s model — but the iPhone 4S’ features and specs are all about details. On top of exclusive support for Apple’s new Siri “intelligent assistant” and dictation system, the 4S comes in a new 64GB flavor and ups the camera to include an 8-megapixel sensor with improved low-light performance and 1080p video capture. For CDMA users, the support for GSM global roaming should be a pretty big deal, too. For comparison, we’ve thrown in one of the hottest (and best) Android handsets on the market right now, the Samsung Galaxy S II.
